Isaac | Digital Communication, Art & Design Major

More commonly recognized around campus as the face of “What's Up Jessup” (a weekly communication video to the Jessup community), freshman Isaac Schmalbeck is getting the exact opportunity he came to Jessup for: To hone his skills as a content creator and practice the art of delivering a relaxed persona infront of the camera. The Digital Communication, Art and Design (DCAD) major was familiar with campus and some Jessup staff as a result of working for a ministry that hosted events on our campus. A strong desire to advance his career led him to the University to pursue his strong desire to reach others for Christ through the internet.
As a co-leader for Give:24, Schmalbeck is embracing the opportunity to represent the digital day of giving. "For me, there was no way to get the Christ-centered, higher education that Jessup offers without the generosity of others," he said. "Receiving scholarships has literally opened the way for me, giving me hope to further my calling in Christ."
"My Why Give:24 is primarily because of the people in this community," he said. "From faculty to the student body, I've felt welcomed, invited and cared about since walking onto campus. The way Jessup integrates faith so deeply into all programs is also why I love Jessup. On top of that, I've been able to meet brilliant people in a variety of fields and connect with them, potentially building relationships where I could help or receive help in their or my calling."
Preslie | English

Give:24 co-lead Preslie Bessenbacher knows firsthand the difference financial support can make for a college student. It was her high school participation in Jessup's Youth Worship night that introduced her to a connection leading to a local outreach internship that gave her just the financial support she needed to attend Jessup.
"I'm thrilled to represent Give:24," she said. "Donating to the cause allows students like me to be able to pursue our callings while the Lord prepares our path and equips us to be able to radiate Christ everywhere we go, no matter what career we choose."
Bessenbacher is an English major with plans to teach high school English. She's also led a global outreach team to East Africa and most recently helped coordinate the Oakland outreach trip to support a ministry organization known as Points of Light during spring break. "At Jessup, I've had great mentors and friends," she said. "I just want to be able to give back for all the ways I've been poured into."
