Troy | Business Administration and Jessup Athlete

From the time senior Troy Crighton was in fourth grade, basketball became more than just a game to him – it became a refuge. Struggling with severe allergies as a child, he needed a sport to play indoors, and the gymnasium soon became his second home. What started as a practical decision soon turned into a passion. His faith, hard work and determination led him to become a member of Jessup's men's basketball team.

Playing at Jessup impacted him far beyond athletics and helped to grow his spiritual walk. "As athletes, we pray before practice and games,” he said. “Coach Darnell keeps Christian perspectives in the forefront, like putting others before ourselves." His life in the residential halls helped him create a close-knit community which is his Give:24 Why. “Those relationships made me recognize my impact goes far beyond basketball.” He also enjoys serving with fellow teammates at various ministries and events throughout the region. "It's a good feeling to help others and serve," he said.

Crighton's Give:24 initiative supports Jessup Athletics' Student-Athlete Opportunity Fund. When you give, your gift provides emergency financial aid for unexpected student-athlete needs and strengthens Jessup’s winning Athletics program.
