Supporting Veteran Future Difference Makers
This summer, Jessup is planning to send another group of veteran students to Southern California for a life-changing ocean therapy experience through the Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation. JMMF is an incredible program that helps people dealing with mental, emotional, and physical challenges by connecting them with the healing power of the ocean.
Meet Bill | Bill is a United State Air Force Veteran and a nursing major at Jessup, and one day he hopes to make a difference in the medical field providing aid to veterans and youth.
Last Summer, thanks to the funds raised during last year's Give:24, Bill had the chance to attend the JMMF ocean therapy with a group of fellow veteran students.
"The ocean therapy experience was unforgettable — an 11 out of 10, for sure. As student veterans, we don’t often get opportunities like this, and it was incredibly transformative for all of us. Surfing, eating, and just spending time together created a space where we could open up, be vulnerable, and connect on a level that only veterans can truly understand. It was a powerful way to share our experiences and heal together.
I wish every student veteran at Jessup could have the chance to experience something like this. That’s why I’m so excited to be representing the Veterans Mental Wellness project during this year’s Give:24. Our goal is to send another group of students to JMMF this summer, but we can’t do it without your support!"
By making a gift to the Veterans Mental Health initiative during Give:24, you provide our veteran students with the funds they need to attend the JMMF Ocean Therapy trip. During this trip they will receive the support they need to cope with the trauma they've experienced during their time in service to our country.
